Update Log!
The first two weeks have been a major success thanks to the support and love from everyone involved and I can't be more thankful! Now I'm moving into making weekly and biweekly updates with this post being the first! The biggest thing I worked on was changing my levels into level instances instead of just scenes. Now whenever I make a change to the structure of one level (like a new kind of object to spawn, or a change to scoring mechanics) it will automatically change in every level which is great for efficiency! I also did the same thing with the player object, once again turning it into an instance.
The next notable thing was the various bug changes and fixes pointed out to me by my playtesters! This included the following:
- Death message appearing behind objects in the scene
- FireSprites shooting fireballs well after they've died
- Player Collision Box being slightly too large
- Objects appearing behind one another
- Sound effects de-syncing after pausing
The last and most obvious addition to the game is the drawbridge puzzles! You'll now be faced with opening doors and pressing buttons in order to advance through a stage. It's a very minor puzzle mechanic, but adds a lot more visual and level variety that I really enjoy! If you want a quick preview of the new update, check out below!
